Artist's Description
Five groups of sculptures are situated on the south side of the Clearwater River at the Hwy 95/ US 12 interchange. Artists Keith Powell and David Govedare have called their work Two Nations meeting on the Kooskooskie River, which was the explorers name for the Clearwater River. A total of 18 sculptures tell the story of Lewis and Clarks return from the Pacific Ocean to meet the Nez Perce Indians who had given them food and traded with them a year before. The sculptures are welded from Core-10 steel, which, unlike other steel, protects itself from weather with a layer of rust. The grant commissioned 17 pieces. Artists Powell and Govedare donated an additional piece, Flint Necklace, which still appears shiny in the slide show. Flint Necklace is the Great Grand Father of Chief Looking Glass who rose to fame two generations later.
About Farol Tomson
Retired and am starting to love the challenges that each image presents to the camera. Searching for my 'perfect' image(s) if there is such a thing. No specialties yet, everything is fair game.

Thanks for all the info about these interesting sculptures, Farol. L/F
Farol Tomson replied:
Thanks, Laura. Those horses way down in the background are part of the display as well. Students put bales of hay out for them to make them look even more real.
