This is a black and white image of the boardwalk which is part of the Cattail Trail at Phinizy Swamp Nature Park located in Augusta, Georgia. This wetland area was originally home to Native Americans in the area. An Italian entrepreneur, Ferdinand Victor Francois Phinizy, who came to America in the 1700s saw the area as a business opportunity because of its nearness to the Savannah River and settled there. Since then the "swamp" has gone through many changes through the years but today the wetlands and park are enjoyed by many.

In 1732, General James Oglethorpe ordered that Tybee Island Light Station on Tybee Island, Georgia be established. Noble Jones of Wormsloe Plantation, began work on the first day-mark and it was completed in 1736. It was octagon shaped and stood 90 feet tall. The structure you see today is actually the 4th lighthoue to rise above Tybee. At 145 feet, it is the oldest and tallest lighthouse in Georgia and one of the few remaining lighthouses from the colonial era. The light station contains several other historic out buildings including the caretaker's cottage. In this photograph, the lighthouse is draped in "Old Glory" in celebration of Veteran's Day.

Intentional Camera Movement (ICM), is a photography technique that combines the use of a slow camera shutter speed and intentional movement of the camera that produces a painterly effect. Forget the tripod and striving for a tack sharp photo and embrace the artist in you! This is my first attempt at ICM which has become very popular. The photograph was taken at Phinizy Swamp Nature Park in Augusta, Georgia.

If you travel with me, we will be riding the backroads! I was on Georgia Highway 23 traveling through Girard, Georgia and discovered this jewel. According to Vanishing South Georgia Photographs by Brian Brown this abandoned building, built in the early 1900s use to be a bank. When the bank failed in 1927, it became the town's post office. Now, it is just eye candy.

This dreamy, romantic sunset cast a gorgeous glow on the Savannah River during one of our recent visits to Savannah, Georgia.

This vendor at the Saturday Market held along the riverfront in Augusta, Georgia had all types of baked goods but this bread is what had my attention. If photographs had smell you could better understand what I mean. I did leave with a loaf of each!

The House Finch can be found over much of North America. They prefer areas with lawns, trees and buildings and can be found in most backyards, especially if there is a bird feeder. This female is soaking up the morning sunshine in my backyard in Augusta, Georgia.

Mount Hermon Presbyterian Church is located in Ila, Georgia. This building was built around 1912 by architect and builder C. D. Griffin. Reverend J. S. Smith was the pastor at the time. This may be the second or third building as graves in the cemetery date back to the late 1800s.

Amidst the tall pines, flowering dogwoods and blooming azaleas, southern charm permeates the air at the Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. Founded by Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts, the course opened for play in 1932 and has been home to the Masters Golf Tournament since 1934.

While waiting on it to get dark enough to take a few light trail photographs I experienced a wonderful sunset. This is Wrightsboro Road in Augusta, Georgia. Maybe not my first choice as a sunset destination but I do like the outcome and it even has a short light trail in it!

Blue hour is the period of twilight (morning or evening) when the sun is below the horizon. This period can produce some amazing colors! This is the Augusta, Georgia skyline seen from the 5th Street Bridge over the Savannah River.
